What is this artist's most breathtaking movie rec? The Florida Project!
The Florida Project is my favorite movie of all time. It's a must watch...one of those films that drives you to reconsider the relationships and innocence in your life.

Every shot from this film displays a gorgeous visual palette that feels like a Monet masterpiece. The vibrant cinematography is coupled beautifully with the wistful plot. Directed by Sean Baker, The Florida Project is simple and profound: it follows a cluster of young children, headed by 6 year old Moonee, who live in cheap motels next to Florida’s famous Disney World. As Baker puts it, the film follows those who fall into the “unseen homeless.” It shows the lives of those poverty-ridden in the shadows of “the most magical place on earth.”

Childhood in this film is portrayed as fragile and reckless at the same time: I think it's one of the most heart-touching and honest portraits of childhood. Perhaps why I love this film so much is because of its gorgeous cinematography: as an artist, I was awed by the saturation of the film...how the motels feel warm and colorful despite the raw poverty. This film captures the vibrant and vast skies of Florida in breathtaking ways, highlighting the childhood perspective.
