Part I: 2000s American Dream
My parents immigrated from China to America in the year 2000. The Statue of Liberty was, of course, one of their first landmarks. Lady Liberty's teal and giant body rose as a promise for a land that served justice: my parents were always grateful for America.
2000s American Dream is a watercolor layered with charcoal. The tone of this piece mirrors that of a faint photograph—similar to that of a past, distant dream. To create this texture, I completed the water color layer and used charcoal to capture the shapes and shading.
