Decorating Affordable Houses
Another core issue of New Haven is affordable housing. There are new projects blooming across the city to provide beautiful, safe, and sustainable living spaces for community members. This week, I attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony where Mayor Elicker and leaders of the Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology (ConnCAT) celebrated a newly constructed affordable housing apartment. The house was bought by none other than my supervisor at ConnCAT. To share this exciting news, I informed several of my ConnCAT kids, and we worked together to create the first piece of wall decor for this affordable house! It was so much fun collaborating with the kids to brighten the spaces that carry on the necessary work of affordable housing for the people around us.
