Finding Home: Visual Arts Senior Independent Study
For my Senior year in high school, I embarked on a Visual Arts Independent Study with the goal of creating art for my community. Trekking across La Jolla on foot, going school to school, and facing numerous downturns, I captured my process this year in finding a home for my art. Though it felt at times that endless barriers stood between me and my visions, I learned one important lesson: you will always end up where you are meant to be.Â
You will always find space where you are meant to create. You will always find home.Â
This film showcases the raw ups and downs, disappointment, frustration, grit, elation, and inspiration that defined my year. Thank you to everyone who made my journey so special!
Senior Exhibition
Every year, the Visual Arts Department hosts Senior Exhibitions for graduating artists at the Manchester Library. Seeing my art line the walls of this space felt surreal and momentous. I had never seen my art shine in such a collective manner: I felt a wholeness that I had never felt before. My voice felt sweeping.
I cut out one quote and pasted it along the walls of this library--"My wish: Use Art to Turn the World Inside Out." This exhibition displayed my inner visions and the colors and shapes I have strung together to tell both personal and external stories.Â
"Now, I have reached this point. My Solo Senior Exhibition. But more importantly, you. I ask you to open your mind and your heart: grapple with the voices beyond the canvasâand feel the vibrant beat of your own voice interacting with this lively, tumultuous jumble."

Summer Edition: Justice Mural is Bright Red Again!
Two summers ago I painted my favorite mural, the Justice Mural, only to realize once I graduated that it got totally sun fried. This summer, I'm glad to purchase sturdy paint and revive our space to full vibrancy. Back to school!
